Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 18, 2026

LakeSoft ("we", "us", or "our") is responsible for the personal information processed through BizDeutsch (com.bizdeutsch.app, the "App"). This policy explains what information the App processes, why it is used, where it is stored, and how you can request its deletion.

BizDeutsch is a workplace German learning app. It stores information on your device and uses Google Sign-In and Firebase for accounts, cloud synchronization, virtual rewards, and monthly leaderboards. When cloud services are available, Google sign-in is required after onboarding. If cloud services cannot initialize, the App can fall back to local guest use.

1. Information We Process

Account and sign-in information

Google Sign-In and Firebase Authentication process your Google account identifier, email address, Firebase user ID, and authentication tokens to sign you in and maintain your session. Basic profile information, such as your Google display name and profile photo, may also be available through the authentication provider. The App displays your signed-in email address; your learning profile uses the nickname you enter in the App.

We do not receive your Google password. The App does not request access to your Gmail messages, contacts, Google Drive files, or calendar.

Learning profile and activity

The App stores a local learning profile and, when you are signed in, synchronizes account data with Firebase. This includes:

  • Your chosen nickname, job track, and onboarding status.

  • Completed lesson units, best star ratings, lesson attempts, and activity timestamps.

  • Gems, XP, hearts, learning streaks, virtual item ownership, and avatar appearance and equipped items.

  • Saved phrases and review items, including missed questions and their lesson text, translations, and situations.

  • Virtual reward and spending records, daily reward limits, and operation identifiers and payload hashes used to prevent duplicate processing.

Synchronization requests also include local player-state fields such as the last study date and completed-level count. The server stores the supported profile fields and maintains its own progress and reward records. Virtual purchases use earned Gems; the current App does not collect card details or process real-money purchases.

When an account is first created, locally saved guest profile information and lesson progress may be imported. Subsequent activity is associated with your Firebase user ID. Pending lesson and purchase operations are saved locally and retried when synchronization is possible.

Device preferences and local storage

The App uses local storage (SharedPreferences) for player data, account-specific cached progress, pending synchronization operations, and preferences such as interface language, theme, sound, vibration, speech playback speed, and voice selection. These device preferences are separate from the learning profile synchronized to Firebase. Authentication services also maintain sign-in state on your device.

Technical information

Google/Firebase services process technical information needed to handle network requests, authenticate users, operate the backend, and prevent abuse. This can include IP addresses, user-agent information, request metadata, and service logs. These services have their own retention practices as described in Firebase's privacy information.

Speech playback and clipboard

The App sends lesson text to your device's text-to-speech service for pronunciation playback. Depending on your selected voice and installed speech engine, that service may process text online under its provider's privacy practices. The current App does not request microphone access, record your voice, or perform speech recognition or AI pronunciation scoring.

When you choose to copy a phrase, the App writes that text to the device clipboard. It does not read your clipboard history.

Support requests

If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you include so that we can respond to your request. Please do not send your password or authentication tokens.

2. Why We Use Information

We use this information to:

  • Authenticate your account and restore your learning profile across devices.

  • Deliver lessons, save progress, and provide phrase favorites and review exercises.

  • Manage virtual rewards, item ownership, and monthly rankings.

  • Retry offline operations, prevent duplicate rewards or spending, and protect the service from abuse.

  • Remember device preferences and respond to support and privacy requests.

Where applicable data protection law requires a legal basis, we process account and learning data to provide the service you request, technical and security data for our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the service, and information necessary to meet legal obligations. Where processing requires consent, you may withdraw that consent; withdrawal does not affect prior lawful processing.

The current App does not include advertising, Google Analytics, or Firebase Crashlytics SDKs. We do not sell personal information or use learning activity for targeted advertising.

3. Leaderboards and Visibility to Other Users

Reward-eligible lesson activity automatically contributes to the current month's leaderboard. Signed-in users can receive the top 100 entries and their own rank. Leaderboard responses include participants' in-app nicknames, monthly XP, ranks, and Firebase user IDs. Your email address, Google profile photo, saved phrases, and detailed lesson history are not included in those responses.

Choose a nickname you are comfortable sharing with other learners. A leaderboard entry stores the nickname used when rewarded activity updates that entry; changing your profile nickname may not immediately change an existing entry. A new monthly ranking period does not automatically delete older leaderboard records.

4. Service Providers and External Services

We use Google Sign-In, Firebase Authentication, Cloud Functions for Firebase, and Cloud Firestore to operate authentication, synchronization, rewards, and leaderboards. Google processes information needed to provide these services. See the Google Privacy Policy and Firebase privacy information.

The App uses Google Fonts and may download and cache font files when they are not already available locally. These requests expose ordinary network information, such as your IP address, to the font hosting service.

Your device's text-to-speech engine, app store, email app, browser, and any service you choose through the system sharing sheet operate under their respective providers' privacy policies. Opening an external link or sending an email uses those services.

We may disclose information where required by law or where necessary to protect users and the service. We do not share learning profiles with advertisers or data brokers.

5. Storage, International Processing, and Security

Local data remains in the App's device storage. Signed-in account data is also stored through Firebase. The backend functions are currently configured for Google's us-central1 region in the United States. Other Firebase services may process information in other locations according to their service configuration and terms; data is not guaranteed to remain in your country. Google's applicable data processing terms describe safeguards for international transfers.

Cloud requests use encrypted connections. Backend functions require authentication and validate supported operations. Direct client writes to the database are blocked, and leaderboard access is limited through backend functions. No storage or transmission method is completely secure.

6. Retention and Deletion

Cloud account information, learning records, virtual transactions, and leaderboard entries are retained until the account data is deleted. The current backend does not automatically expire inactive accounts or historical monthly leaderboard entries. Provider-managed logs and backups follow the provider's retention and deletion schedules; deletion from those systems may take longer than removal from the active account database.

To request deletion of your BizDeutsch account and associated cloud data, email admin@pagebook.net with the subject BizDeutsch account deletion, preferably from the Google email address used to sign in. We may ask for information needed to verify account ownership. Account deletion covers the Firebase Authentication account, learning profile and associated records, virtual reward and item data, and leaderboard entries. It does not delete your Google account. Any information that must be retained to meet a legal obligation will be limited to that purpose.

The current App does not provide an in-app account deletion button. Signing out ends your session but does not delete cloud records or account-specific local caches. Clearing app storage through your device settings, where available, removes local App data; uninstalling ordinarily removes it as well, subject to operating-system backup and restore behavior. Neither action deletes your cloud account. To remove both, request cloud account deletion and clear local App data on each device. Signing in again after deletion may create a new account and import any remaining local guest data.

7. Your Choices and Rights

You can change your nickname and job track in settings, manage saved phrases in the App, and change available sound, vibration, language, and speech playback preferences. Signing out stops account synchronization until you sign in again; normal use requires sign-in when cloud services are available.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of your personal information, restrict processing, or object to certain processing. Contact admin@pagebook.net to exercise these rights. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority where applicable.

8. Children

BizDeutsch is intended for learners aged 13 and above and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so that we can investigate and arrange deletion. Where a higher minimum age or parental authorization is required by local law, that requirement applies.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when the App's features or information practices change. The effective date above identifies the latest revision. Where required by applicable law, we will provide additional notice of material changes.
